Californians for Clean Affordable Safe Energy (Cal-CASE) is a brand new statewide coalition composed of business, consumer and agriculture organizations that are concerned about the state’s future energy needs and the need to explore other affordable options to meet those needs.
California’s demand for natural gas is expected to grow significantly within the next decade. California’s power plants rely on natural gas and our state only produces 16% of what we consume. To help meet that demand, liquid natural gas (LNG) can play a larger role in the state’s energy supply mix. LNG is natural gas that has been converted into liquid for transportation purposes and then converted back into “gas” when needed. This liquefied form makes it more economical to transport and therefore cheaper for businesses and consumers. LNG is transported by boat from other countries that have large natural gas supplies.
As a coalition, our mission is to help educate the public about the benefits of LNG and how allowing an LNG site in California can help meet our energy needs.

Cal-CASE will help educate the public by supporting and participating (when appropriate) in informal town halls throughout the state that will bring community leaders, local businesses and energy officials together to discuss energy, natural gas and LNG. Cal-CASE member companies will be invited to share their experiences during the energy crisis and what additional natural gas supplies would mean to their operations.
